Our video ‘Grow Your Wings’ has won Bronze at the Smiley Charity Awards. We would like to thank everyone who has voted for us and shared our story, we were up against stiff competition!

The Smiley Charity Film Awards is one of the largest charity events of the year, promoting cause-based films. The awards share video campaigns with millions of viewers, highlighting charities tackling the most pressing issues of our time. The ceremony took place on Wednesday 20th March in London. Representatives from Staying Put attended and accepted the award.

“The video was inspired through a poem, written by a colleague with lived experience and presented at one of our events,” explains Shazana Rasib, Accommodation Services Manager. “It’s important we showcase the breadth of domestic abuse and the nuances within it. The video highlights multiple-perpetrator abuse and also represents marginalised groups in an impactful way. The metamorphosis of the butterfly symbolises challenges, transformation through support and hope.”

“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and shared our story. We are so proud that our culturally sensitive video has won,” states Yasmin Khan, CEO “Our staff are trusted professionals who are dedicated and passionate about the diverse communities we serve. Domestic abuse continues to devastate lives and we will continue to listen, believe and act to protect all survivor of domestic abuse and sexual violence.”
