Did you see us? Staying Put were on Lorraine Kelly this morning talking about the impact of Baby banks.
Nicki and Kerry were filmed for the Lorraine programme at the Bradford Baby Bank as part of Lorraine’s Big Baby Bank Appeal in partnership with The Baby Bank Alliance and Morrisons supermarket. The aim of the appeal is to ensure that all babies have the best possible start in life.
“We use baby banks when we have a woman who comes to refuge and is pregnant and needs essential items,” explains Nicki, Children and Young Person’s Support Worker at Staying Put.
“Most recently we’ve asked for items like baby monitors and bedding for a moses basket, car seats and pushchairs, bottle sanitisers- all essential items people fleeing domestic abuse need.”
“I support anyone who comes through the maternity services at hospital,” says Kerry, Health Independent Domestic Violence Advocate. “Many women who flee domestic abuse leave with a carrier bag of things and find themselves homeless with no access to claiming benefits and no income.”
The appeal will last for the whole of November and aims to encourage people to support families by donating to the appeal.
Kerry will also be appearing on ITV News tonight.
Well done to Nicki and Kerry who represented Staying Put amazingly.
