We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported our CEO Sleepout campaign- it’s raised a whopping £10K for our charity.
In October 2023, Andy Ellis, our Business Development Manager, along with delegates from CEO SleepOut, Leeds United Football Club, The Leeds College of Building, Iceotope, Senior Stairlifts, and Better Emotions CIC, committed to spending a night sleeping at Elland Road Stadium. The purpose was to raise awareness for those who are at risk of homelessness due to domestic abuse. Almost 32% of homeless women said domestic abuse contributed to their homelessness.
“I’ve always believed that, unless you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, you can’t hope to understand what life is like for them.” States Andy. “So that’s what I did, but it was just one night. I went home to a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Some people have no choice but to do this for weeks, months and even years. Hopefully, this contribution will help Staying Put to help others ever having to experience homelessness, even for just a day.”
The money raised will be spent on our Refuges- making them as welcoming and as comfortable to ensure that when someone leaves abuse, they feel safe, secure to recover from the trauma of abuse.
